Back in 2011 when I was searching for a unique and interesting name for my photo website and blog, my then friend now husband suggested TisheyeLens as sort of a joke, and I loved it! I immediately bought the domain and got started building the website. But over the years I was convinced (by those “in the know”) that I should have a more professional sounding name for my “serious” photography, so I got the tishaluk.com domain and built a separate website for it. This also meant another Insta account just for my “serious” photos. And then for a while there was also the Tisha & Brandon Podcast & Insta accounts. Gah! It was all so complicated and needless.
But recently I’ve come to realize that all those added things did nothing more than to complicate my already busy schedule and in doing so worked to stifle my creativity. And I just got sick of it all. So, as of yesterday (err August 30th) I deleted my second Insta account, leaving me with the TisheyeLens account only, and it was a relief. I have now changed all my other accounts (that I’m keeping) back to TisheyeLens. Yep, even my YouTube Channel is now under that umbrella. I have also deleted my TishaLuk.com website, as I never got around to updating it. I mean, who has the time?! I figure if people want to see the images I post they can find them on Instagram and VERO. And if they want to purchase a print of one of those images, they can hit me up in my DMs.
Anyway, it’s all part of my theme for this year of letting go and moving forward. And it feels good. Because let’s be honest, sometimes all you need to do is simplify things in your life to begin to see your path forward. And all this digital/virtual clutter was dragging me down to the point where I wanted to just walk away from it all. But now, as the clutter begins to fade, I can better see where I need to concentrate my efforts. It doesn’t feel so overwhelming anymore, and that’s kind of the point.
So yeah… my online presence is down to just a few accounts, and I will link them all below. I mean, you’re already here, so you obviously know how to get to this account. But other than my ever witty blog posts, you can find my photography & videos in the following spots…
YouTube (I’d love to get to the 500 subscriber mark so I can get the community feature and be able to use it more like social media. So, pass it on! But also, this channel is in a transition stage, so be patient)
And that’s it. Four places you can find me. If you’ve been with me since that 2011 mark, thanks for sticking around this long and through all those ups and downs and changes. You’re a real trooper! And to those of you who have come along later in the journey, thank you for being here too. I appreciate you all!
I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and…
Until next time, be loving, be kind, be better!
As a non pro influenced by many pros I have gone back and forth on creating a blog, a website, separate accounts…but then remembered what is it I am truly wanting for my photography. Again being , I guess a non serious, photographer I really just like going out and shooting. Then sharing what I am proud of and learning some along the way. The excitement and urge to do anything other than post on social media has lessened. Vero has become my go to for my best pics, Instagram my place for my more everyday pics. Personally I don’t like sharing the same picture everywhere 😉🤣🤣. But I think the biggest point I get and that is reaffirmed by what you wrote, is we have to find our own path to sharing our creative work, to keep the creativity going and keep it, well, fun 😊
I’m glad I could help all those years ago ❤️
